Anna Gilmore and colleagues show how a track and trace system–long recommended as a solution to contraband tobacco by tobacco control advocates–has been infiltrated by the tobacco industry. Dawkins et al find that high nicotine cigarettes may deliver less acrolein and formaldehyde to users because of compensatory behaviours. University College London scientists examine changes in smoking prevalence and cigarette consumption and find that any effect of nicotine replacement products or e-cigarettes on the population level was likely very small.
