OTS Technical Documentation

The Ontario Tobacco Survey (OTS) was a provincial longitudinal survey of smokers and a cross-sectional survey of nonsmokers conducted between 2005 and 2011 with more than 7500 respondents. It was undertaken to evaluate and inform the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy and to gain a better understanding of the processes of, and influences on, smoking cessation and relapse.

Researchers can apply to use the data from the Ontario Tobacco Survey to conduct secondary analyses for research and evaluation by consulting the Ontario Tobacco Survey Information and Guidelines for Data Use. Applicants should familiarize themselves with the OTS design and questionnaires. Please refer to the OTS Technical Reports below for further details and documentation.
