OTRU researchers examined the long-term impact of the menthol ban in Canada and found that daily menthol smokers prior to the ban were significantly more likely to quit for more than 6 months.

McDermott and other UK scientists found that daily e-cigarette users were over 3 times more likely to quit smoking than non-e-cigarette users. However, non-daily e-cigarette users were less likely to quit smoking.

An update to a previous review found that smoking cessation was associated with substantial improvements in mental health, suggesting that cessation is an important intervention to improve mental health and mood among smokers.
